COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament Secretariat will attend a workshop from December 1 to 3, 2020 to strengthen its skills and acquire new tools in the development of a medium term Strategic plan, in the framework of the European Union funded “Support to Bangsamoro Transition (SUBATRA) programme”.
The Bangsamoro Parliament has already enacted some landmark laws as listed by the Bangsamoro Transition Authority, notably key legislations such as the Bangsamoro Administrative Code, the Bangsamoro Regional Development Plan, and others. There are, however, some significant laws that have yet to be enacted, like the Electoral Code, the Civil Service Code, and other priority legislation.
The conduct of the strategic plan is only one of many key activities to be implemented by the European Union funded SUBATRA Programme.
Signed in July 2020 with a grant of EUR 26M or PHP 1.48B, SUBATRA aims to contribute to the smooth and timely undertaking of the transitional government process through strengthening of the capabilities and capacities of the 3 branches of the Bangsamoro Government – the executive, legislative and the judiciary- and engaging with civil society to contribute to a peaceful transition. The aim is to enhance capacities that are critical for the sound functioning of the interim institutions. This will enable a governance environment and policies, which are essential for implementing the transition plan.
The seminar-workshop shall be attended by the Parliament Speaker, Secretary General, its senior officers, and some representatives from the Bangsamoro Parliament.
