Committees of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) are composed of Members of the Parliament (MPs), who are experts in recognized fields necessary for the fulfilment of the interim government’s duties specified in the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL).
All committees have ‘oversight functions and responsibilities’, including setting legislative targets, reviewing the performance of offices, and securing the enactment and implementation of priority measures.
They perform crucial roles in passing legislation, guarding executive actions, and keeping policy procedures right and effective.
These functions help the Parliament stir public forums to solve critical issues and concerns within the Bangsamoro region.
To date, the BTA has three committee classifications: (1) parliamentary, (2) statutory, and (3) special committee.
- Parliamentary Committees extend the power of the Bangsamoro Parliament in its legislative activities. Committee on Rules and Committee on Accounts and Audit are two working commissions under this classification.
- Statutory Committees are permanent committees identified in the BOL. Existing statutory committees the BTA has are:

Committee on Labor and Employment,
Committee on Social Services,
Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform,
Committee on Health, Committee on Transportation and Communication,
Committee on Public Order and Safety,
Committee on Human Settlements and Development,
Committee on Indigenous People’s Affairs,
Committee on Science and Technology,
Committee on Local Government,
Committee on Finance, Budget and Management,
Committee on Basic, Higher and Technical Education,
Committee on Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy, and
Committee on Public Works and Highways
- Special Committees prioritize specific functions critical to aid communities in need. They are created through the recommendations and approval of the Parliament and shall exercise the same powers vested on regular committees. The BTA has one standing special committee, the Committee on Marawi.
