Two BARMM legislators file bill establishing hospitals in Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur

COTABATO CITY — Two members of the Bangsamoro Parliament filed bills seeking to construct provincial and municipal hospitals in Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur.

Parliament Bill 114 filed by Dr. Zul Qarneyn Abas and Atty. Maisara Damdamun-Latiph seeks to establish a provincial hospital in Tugaya, Lanao del Sur.

The proposed Lanao del Sur Provincial Hospital (LSPH) will have a minimum capacity of 25 beds. Upon the Ministry of Health’s evaluation and recommendation, it may be upgraded into a larger facility.

LSPH will primarily serve patients from Lanao del Sur’s various municipalities.

According to the proposed bill, P75-million will be appropriated to procure equipment and initial operations of said hospital, including pre-operating expenses, Personnel Services (PS) and Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE).

Another bill was filed by Abas seeking to construct a municipal hospital in Buldon, Maguindanao.

Initially, the said municipal hospital will serve as an infirmary with a capacity of at least 10-15 beds.

According to the proposed bill, it will serve patients from the Municipality of Buldon and may support existing medical facilities in Iranon municipalities such as Parang, Buldon, Matanog, and Barira, as well as the adjacent towns of Sultan Mastura, Sultan Kudarat, and some parts of Lanao del Sur, when the need arises.

The construction of Buldon hospital will require a budget of P78-million for its construction, equipment purchase, and initial operations. (Publication and Media Relations Division)
