Duties, Power and Jurisdiction

It shall exercise jurisdiction on all matters relating to the planning and programming of general economic development, including the regulation and diversification of industry and investments, and those which involve public indebtedness, either domestic or local.It shall exercise jurisdiction over private corporations, domestic and foreign trade, handicraft and cottage industries, intellectual property rights, patents, trade names and trademarks, standards, weights, measures and designs, quality control, consumer protection, and stabilization of prices of commodities. It shall also exercise jurisdiction on all matters relating to the development and promotion of tourism and the tourist industry, both local and international.
