COTABATO CITY — Hundreds of students from Lanao del and Sur and North Cotabato received financial assistance from some members of the Bangsamoro Parliament.

Said distribution was implemented under the Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF) projects of Akmad Abas and Atty. Maisara Dandamun-Latiph in partnership with the Ministry of Social Services Development (MSSD).

The municipalities of Pigcawayan, Carmen, Kabacan,  and Pikit in North Cotabato and Malabang in Lanao del Sur were among the municipalities that received the financial grant.

Abas gave P10,000 to the students in North Cotabato, while Latiph set the following categories to determine the amount of cash allowances beneficiaries would get:

  • Php 1,000 for students who are in elementary level;
  • Php 1,500 for students who are in high school level;
  • Php 10,000 for students who are in college level; and
  • Php 5,000 for solo parents.

Latiph has served a total of 144 students and parents in her program.

“Sa pagnanais kung makatulong ng agaran, napansin ko sa menu na inihanda ng MSSD na mayroong financial assistance para sa mga mag-aaral ng elementarya, sekondarya, at kolehiyo, para sa mga orphans, solo parents, PWDs, at maghandog ng kapital na tinatawag na Bangsamoro Sagip Kabuhayan kaya naman ito ang aking napili na ihandog para sa lahat ng mga nangangailangan sa Lanao del Sur,” Latiph said.

The distribution was assisted by LDS social welfare officers and other youth volunteers.

One of the students who received a cash grant said, “Ang perang natanggap namin ay gagamitin namin sa pang araw-araw na pangangailangan namin sa aming pag-aaral kaya kami ay nagpapasalamat sa mga members of Parliament at MSSD.”

Other municipalities in the region are also scheduled to receive the assistance. (Publication and Media Relations Division)
