Office of the Parliament Speaker Parliamentary Caucus

Bangsamoro Parliament Speaker Atty. Pangalian Balindong convened the heads of the Parliament’s organic offices for the “parliamentary caucus,” a gathering aimed at defining the vision for legislative excellence in the region.

The caucus served as a platform for the heads of the Parliament’s organic offices to discuss strategies and share insights to achieve the common goal of advancing the region through effective governance.

During the caucus, Speaker Balindong urged all heads to be more committed to their duties, as they are the driving forces behind the Bangsamoro Parliament.

“Let us work together to set a standard of legislative excellence that will serve as a beacon for future generations,” he added.

Office of the Parliament Speaker Annual Review 2023 and Outlook 2024

The Office of the Parliament Speaker recently concluded its annual review of the implementation of programs, activities, and projects of its organic offices.

The annual review provided an overview of the accomplishments made in 2023 and laid out the roadmap for continued progress in 2024.

Among the accomplishments underscored during the review was the successful implementation of 78.89% of the overall PAPs outlined in the approved Annual Work and Financial Plan (AWFP) for 2023.

They also discussed the Cabinet Legislative Agenda as well as the schedules and activities for this year, emphasizing the importance of aligning legislative initiatives with the priorities of the Bangsamoro government.

Bangsamoro Parliament Speaker’s Office first ‘inaul gala’

The Bangsamoro Parliament Speaker’s Office held its first ‘inaul gala’, an event that aimed to showcase the exquisite Inaul fabric of Maguindanao and its cultural significance.

The event served as a heartfelt tribute to the remarkable women artisans who have dedicated their lives to the art of Inaul weaving, acknowledging their exceptional skill and recognizing their contributions in preserving the rich tapestry of the region’s culture and history.

Bangsamoro Parliament Welcomes the Colombian delegates

Members of the Bangsamoro Parliament welcomed the Colombian delegates on November 8 as they discussed the implementation of the peace process in their respective areas.

The meeting allowed both parties to discuss their experiences, challenges, and accomplishments in the pursuit of lasting peace.

Bangsamoro lawmakers shared their journey towards achieving peace in the region as well as their continued efforts to promote unity, address historical grievances, and ensure sustainable development in the Bangsamoro region.

Leading the Colombian delegation was the Ambassador of Colombia to the Philippines, H.E. Marcela Ordonez.

Ordonez expressed her appreciation for the achievements of the Bangsamoro government in their peace-building efforts. She also discussed the current situation of the Colombian government’s own peace initiatives.

Deliberations for the proposed Bangsamoro Expenditure Program for fiscal year 2024

The Bangsamoro Parliament’s Finance, Budget, and Management Committee will soon start the deliberations for the proposed Bangsamoro Expenditure Program for fiscal year 2024.

With the referral of the BTA Bill No. 262, which outlines the proposed budget for the upcoming year, to the committee, its members are preparing to conduct a thorough review and scrutiny of the financial allocations for various ministries, agencies, and offices.

The proposed budget for the fiscal year 2024, a crucial document that will shape the financial landscape of the Bangsamoro region for the upcoming year, has been handed over to Bangsamoro Parliament Speaker Atty. Pangalian Balindong.

Among the priorities highlighted are education, infrastructure, health, and social services.

Proposed budget of P98.46 billion for the fiscal year 2024

BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim submitted the proposed budget of P98.46 billion for the fiscal year 2024 to Bangsamoro Parliament Speaker Atty. Pangalian Balindong on October 24.

Chief Minister Ebrahim emphasized the importance of the proposed budget, which lays the groundwork for the year 2024.

Several ministers from various ministries presented the proposed budget, highlighting the specific programs and projects that are designed to uplift the lives of the Bangsamoro people, promote economic growth, and ensure peace and stability in the region.

The Bangsamoro Parliament also continued the period of interpellation for BTA Bill No. 31, a measure that seeks to establish the first Islamic studies institution in the region.
