Gender and Development Focal Point System

Mandate

Pursuant to the provisions Section 36(b) of Republic Act No. 9710, also known as the Magna Carta of Women, which provides that “all departments shall establish or strengthen their Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System to catalyze and accelerate gender mainstreaming within the agency or local government unit,” the Office of the Parliament Speaker constituted the Gender and Development Focal Point System of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority Parliament, GADFPS Secretariat, and GADFPS Technical Working Group through issuance of Memorandum Order No. 171, series of 2022 on February 18, 2022.

GAD FPS – Activities

BTA-GADFPS 1st Meeting for 2024

The BTA’s Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) held its first meeting for 2024 this Wednesday afternoon to tackle preparations for some activities timetabled in the first quarter of this year. These include the 2023 year-end review and assessment of the GFPS, executive briefing on gender and development for members of the Parliament, and extension in the provision of free mammogram and sonomammogram for BTA employees.

“Libreng Legal na Tulong para sa Bangsamoro”

The Bangsamoro Transition Authority – Gender and Development Focal Point System, in partnership with the Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission and other agencies of the Bangsamoro government, conducted the “Libreng Legal na Tulong para sa Bangsamoro” on Wednesday, December 6, at the City Mall Activity Center, Cotabato City.

Legal Consultation and Counseling

To provide guidance and advice on specific legal issues and concerns and promote awareness on laws protecting women from violence, and as part of the line up of activites for the 18-Day Campaign to end Violence against Women, the Bangsamoro Transition Authority Gender and Development Focal Point System conducted Legal Consultation and Counseling on December 6, 2023 at Brgy. Bus-Bus, Jolo, Sulu.
