Gender and Development Focal Point System

Mandate

Pursuant to the provisions Section 36(b) of Republic Act No. 9710, also known as the Magna Carta of Women, which provides that “all departments shall establish or strengthen their Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System to catalyze and accelerate gender mainstreaming within the agency or local government unit,” the Office of the Parliament Speaker constituted the Gender and Development Focal Point System of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority Parliament, GADFPS Secretariat, and GADFPS Technical Working Group through issuance of Memorandum Order No. 171, series of 2022 on February 18, 2022.

Stakeholders’ Consultation on the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 8

The BTA GAD Focal Point System participated in the Stakeholders’ Consultation on the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 8, also known as the Bangsamoro Women Commission Act of 2020 on Monday, January 23, in Cotabato City.

United for a VAW-free Bangsamoro Run for a Cause

The United for a VAW-free Bangsamoro Run for Cause initiated by the BTA Gender and Development Focal Point System (GADFPS), was held on Saturday morning, December 10.
Participated by around 400 individuals, the activity is in support to the 18-day campaign to end violence against women (VAW), which is an annual advocacy campaign that aims to promote awareness and discussions on and influence all duty bearers to provide solutions and strengthen existing institutional mechanisms to end VAW.

Gender Sensitivity Training

The two-day Gender Sensitivity Training conducted by the BTA GADFPS concluded today, October 27.
Sessions on the second day of the training focused on gender biases, gender and development, gender mainstreaming, and women, peace and security concepts.
